[livejournal.com profile] zorame is doing a drabble trade right now, and there's a may meme going on right now, so I've written three more Naruto flash fic. One new team seven (Sakura, Lee, Sai), two Lee/Naruto.

Sighing heavily as though the weight of the world rested upon his shoulders, Naruto flopped to the soft meadow grass. Lee trudged a few steps forward and heaved himself down next to Naruto's prone body.

Naruto turned into Lee and stared up at the sky. "That one, it looks like a dragon," he said, pointing.

Lee looked up. "That one looks like a lotus blossom."

Naruto pointed at another. "That one looks like . . . " He stopped, frowned. "What the hell is that?"

Lee stood, dragging Naruto up with him, to face another incoming enemy. "It appears our break is over."

He resumed a ready stance and wondered once more what strange new ninjutsu allowed that unsteady, human flight. Either way, Naruto standing firm at his side, Lee was unafraid. Whatever came next, they would face it together.

Steam rose from the rooftops like smoke. The torrent had let up only minutes before, but already the rain was drying, absorbing into the hot summer air. Their clothes, however, were another matter.

"I am going to kill you," Sakura threatened as they slogged back into the village. "Both of you."

Naruto laughed nervously and waved an arm, drops flying from the sodden sleeve. "It's not really my fault," he protested again. "And it's only a little rain." Sakura looked at him. "And mud."

Sai was wisely not saying anything for once, and Naruto wished he could exercise restraint and join him in his silence. Instead, he tried, "How was I supposed to know that there would be a mudslide after the flooding? It never floods in summer!"

"Kakashi-sensei distinctly said something about it before disappearing." Now Sai spoke up.

Fortunately, Sakura turned her ire on him. "Why didn't you say anything!"

"I did. You were too busy chasing Naruto at that point." Sakura looked about to let him go, but then Sai added, "And I didn't want to interrupt your incompetent flirting."

Watching Sakura grow ten times as enraged, Naruto reflected glumly that death was twenty times more likely than when they'd watched the mud and floodwaters come pouring down the hill.

The hunter's moon hung low and heavy in the sky. A breeze stirred from the north, raised goosebumps along Lee's skin as the chilly air wrapped around him, then blew past. Naruto's eyes, usually the clear blue of a cloudless sky, reflected back the reddish-orange of the moon. His chin was raised, his nostrils flared as though scenting out any possible prey. Lee shivered again, this time nothing to do with the cold.

"Naruto," he called softly, and Naruto blinked, shook himself a little. He turned and grinned back at Lee in reassurance, eyes a dark blue in the shadows.

Naruto hand-signaled to go west, two shinobi approaching from the north-east, another from due north. Evasion would be better in this case--the three would hit one another first and engage, and Naruto and Lee could sneak away while they were distracted.

When the training exercise was finally complete, they handed back the scrolls, both those they'd carried into the forest and those they had snuck from the hapless would-be chuunin. Naruto turned to Lee and slung an arm around his shoulders.

"Remember when we were that young and clumsy?" he asked.

Lee smiled helplessly. "You're still clumsy," he couldn't help but point out.

"Says who?" Naruto bristled, but kept his arm wrapped warm around Lee.

"The vines and the cliff," was all Lee would say.

Naruto sighed. "Fine. But I wouldn't have been anywhere near the cliff if you hadn't taken pity on that Kumo kid."

"It wasn't pity!" Lee protested.

"Right," Naruto snorted.

"He was working very hard," Lee said.

Naruto just grinned and pulled Lee closer. "You never change," he said. Lee smiled and clutched back at Naruto.

The hunter's moon crept bright and steady across the sky, but Naruto's gaze remained fixed on Lee. Lee wouldn't have it any other way.

The last one is my fave. ♥ LeeNaru is one of my top Naruto OTPs, and it's odd how well they play off of each other.

They're fun together. I'm actually surprised that other people also like the pairing, as I haven't really seen it around much, but when [livejournal.com profile] hello_scorpling said she liked it, too, I couldn't resist.
